The Southern Highlands Youth Arts Council Inc (SHYAC) is a non-profit volunteer-based incorporated association that started over 28 years ago with the purpose of providing opportunities for regional youth to participate in the arts, especially theatre and related performing arts.
Adult tutors and volunteers assist with mentoring and organisation. The aim is not just to provide skills but also performance and exhibition outlets directed at their peers of similar age.
SHYAC has produced dozens of shows and workshops and received awards and grants for its productions.
SHYAC actively builds partnerships with other community and government organisations as well as commercial sponsors.
